does any one on the BOC do any mushroom hunting in the spring
When I'm turkey hunting in the spring I keep my eyes peeled on them tastey treats.:smile2:
We used to, Bill, when I lived in Michigan. They used to say that you can find them up north in the woods, near aspen trees and where the trillium grows... in May. If we had a good hunt, I'd soak them in salt water to de-buggify them and then string them on thread to dry. Delicious!
I dunno whether/where they grow down here in Oklahoma
I hunt them alot, just don't find very many!!
hey short were are you from in Ind. im from evansville if your close we could hook up this spring
There are quite a few of us Bill. Do a search on site for Morels and you can see some of what we got last spring.
Every Spring...I love em. Here in Oklahoma we find them around creek and river banks under or around cedar trees. Find em in other places also, just find more around the cedars.
here in southern ind. i seem to find them around sickamorestrees on the squaw banks of old mines
In 2001 i worked in the shidler OK area and the guy at the AL&VALS pizza place at kaw city was allways finding them
I used to be an avid mushroom hunter till I made myself sick gorging on them. For several years I could't stand the smell of them. I don't hunt them on purpose anymore...
Conclusion: the place where you got tired of thinking
Yep. Every spring I go to my honey hole and pick a mess of morells, then I go catch a stringer full of fat crappies. Then, and only then, I know that it is truely springtime.
so whats the difference between a mushroom and a toadstool?
