I was fishng for skipjack and white bass below the Saverton Dam (#22) on the mississippi and caught a few fish about 15 - 18" that I think may have been goldeneye. They look like tarpon and feed on the top, jump, and are fun. They do have a gold ring around the eye, larger mouth than skippies, and no teeth like skipjack. Anyway, if they are up near Hannibal, I'll bet they are on the Missu. Probably below dams, dike overflows, or anywhere there is a lot of current and oxygen. Perhaps they are spawning. If anyone thinks that these are not goldeneye, let me know. I am not sure. Caught them on small jigs fished fast across the top of the water (2 jigs). Hannibal Mike
(I freeze them for bait as they are bloody)
