    Great catch brother but calling it a monster I would not there are sturgeon that are a couple times larger....Never the less EXCELLENT catch!

    nice fish!! Dont know a lot about them but doesnt caivar come from them? Is their a way you can get it with out killing her?

    This here is a lake sturgeon they don't get as big as white and other kinds of sturgeon I should have said monster lake sturgeon :wink:

    Thanks bros!! My set up was a 7.6ft shimano compre xhvy fast action musky rod with a Daiwa millionaire 250 classic with 50lb power pro i used an inline rig with about 3 nightcrawlers and two minnows on a 6/0 octopus hook runnin 3-7 oz of lead depending on current. That fish had so much power it was insane :cool2:

    Mark that was from the winnipeg river we didn't weigh her. My buddy who took me out said that was the biggest one he's seen in person and in his boat :big_smile: Not a bad first one at all!!! :big_smile:

    Sorry about resurrecting such an old post. But wow what an awesome fish.
    No open season on lake sturgeon here in my area of Ontario.
    In the last few years they have built two huge spawning beds in the Detroit River. One near Fighting Island the other near the Ambassador bridge.
    Hopefully they will come back and they will allow us to fish for them again, even with a limit of zero.
