I went to run my lines today for the last time till next year. I have three total (which I took up).

I had a few little blues which I released so I took up the trot lines. As I got closer to the last line, which is about 3 inches out of the water, I could see one the the stagings moving around. When I got up to it there was this monster grass carp (for me it was big). I forgot my net at the house go I used the gaff hook and hooked him right in the kisser!

The funny thing is that I havent baited that line in a while, I guess the algae growing on the hook attracted him. Afterall, they are vegetarians as yall helped me with earlier.

Check out the pictures. 33Inches 13Lbs 2Feet of water

Hellacarp! I caught one of those on a dandilion when I was a little kid. It weighed 9# and I was very proud of it. At least until I realized it tasted like poo-poo.

haahaa..yeah I've never tried carp and never will - just raised that way I guess. I am estimating this fish will produce about 150-175 baits maybe 200.

I have already gutted it and I will probably fillet it and vacuum-pak it for use in the early spring.

Speaking of algae, this carp's digestive tract was packed full of vegetation! I haved never seen anything like that before.

Thats probably why he hit my hook, it had a little algae on it and it was near the surface so he probably saw it in the sunlight.

Wow! That never ceases to amaze me (I'm easily entertained though) The only one bigger I've ever seen is the one my wife caught!

    Yeah it will,

I don't plan on using him till early spring. I mainly deer hunt during the winter - I like to let the river 'grow up', as you could say.

Those are some nice pictures. It's a shame that you all don't like eating carp.Question to you is Have you ever tried it or just going by what someone said? If done right it is good eating. If you ever went to a fish fry some where and theyhadfish sandwhices for sale, chances are it was either a Carp or Buffalo sandwich. Don't know about now days but when I was growing up thats what you had. You Can cut them off the bone and not have any bones left in it so to speak. If done right you don't even have to mess with the insides at all. Just cut it off the bone. Then all you have is two slabs of meat.cut up put in hot grease cook till Golden Brown and enjoy. Don't over cook or it will get to hard.Try it you might like it. When I was a kid (way Back when) thats about all anyone fished for. Very few Cats was caught back then. Hard to believe huh. Boy this brings back old memeries
