Well i know that it will get the channels moving big time there not sure about flats.. find a spot where water coming in off a cliff or a wash where water is dirty from run off and fish it they feed those spots hard channel cats anyway

Brian...here's my take on it...vibrations travel very well through water so it's no suprise that fish use vibrations as a way to sense when other fish are moving through the area. Little fish use it as a early warning system to avoid big fish. When it's raining, or where washes/streams empty into larger bodies of water, it creates great cover for predatory fish looking for prey. The vibration from their movements are obscured by all of the "static" created by the disturbance in the water.

Interesting theory never thought of that. I always figured the little fish were there eating the stuff that was flowing in so the big fish followed them.

not sure how relates, but when young, was camped somewhere up on mongolian rim in az. (sp) hard rain and couldn't see 0ne inch into water. every one there told me i'd never catch a thing. well, being a kid and stubborn, i fished anyhow with crawler and heavier line. best brown trout fishining i'd ever had. if my old mind remembers right, probably 4-5 brown trout each between 3 to 5 lbs. guys about crapped their pants when i walked back into camp with fish on my forked stick. (we didn't know what stringers were then).
