I'm a lucky guy. I get to meet so many great people who love The River as much as me. Today I was honored to escort Kevin Rogers and his daughter Emma. She is a little fireball. I looked... but I couldn't find a shy bone in her body. And Dad better look out when he goes fishing with her. Emma was quick to tell me that she has "the touch." She and Dad both "touched 'em" pretty good this morning. The cats were pretty active early on. Kevin and Emma collected enough for pretty darn good fish fry at the Rogers household. Emma has been watching too much Bill Dance however because she had to give most of the fish, including the cats, a great big smooch right on the lips. When the sun came out, the cat bite slowed down so we switched gears. We soremouthed some bluegill... Kevin caught a horse! The white bass (stripe) were pretty active, blowing up occasionally so we switched gears again and caught some those, plus a couple of bonus bass. All in all it was a very fun morning, with two great fisherpersons. After Kevin and Emma headed home to clean fish, I called my daughter Priscilla and she was glad to come join me on The River a while. We decided we wanted to go camp out on a deep hole and see if we could get a BIG bite. We missed two great runs on monster baits right off the bat and I was perturbed We toughed it out a couple of hours under the baking sun and Priscilla tagged two real "quality fish!" I've got to share a story about the biggest fish. We sat a long time in one spot and I decided to pull anchor and move. Pris went to reel up and said, "Uh oh!" I asked if she was hung on the bottom and she said, "Yea, 'fraid so..... oh no, wait. It's a fish!" I don't know if he'd been sitting there gnawing the bait or if he just happened to hit as she started to reel up, but it was humorous... although I'm sure you'd had to have been there. But just one more fun thing in a fun day that reminds me that life is good, and gettin' better every day!
