i realize that some admins are military guys, but this is the civvy world out here now. i am not used to 24hr clocks, and having things posted on board in 24hr time makes me have to scratch my head to figure it out.

what is the general consensus of the BOC? should we go with military time?

I like Military time. My cousin has been in the Guard for 4 years so far, he says that he can't stop saying military time, because it's drilled into your head, and you have to know it. It's not that hard to remember either. 1300 is 1, 1400, is 2, 1500, is 3, 1600, is 4, for PM, and so on. For AM it's just regular time,1 is 1, 2 is 2, you get what i mean.

well the BOC is only partially using military time..... they could add the time zone to make it more clear exactly what time they are referring to. If it is too difficult to add or subtract 12 from the time stated to determine your local time then I guess we should quit using time altogether

I see your point Phil, but really no big deal to me, either way.

I used military time for 4 years, 50 years ago but it still comes easy.

Doesn't make any difference to me if it's 5 p.m. or 1700, it's still supper time.

ok, just as i feared, i am being ganged up on by the vets:cry-big:

i know what 24hr clocks are, but there are none where i go - whether to work, to the parts store, to the restaurant, to a neighbor, to....well, you get the picture. to those of you that have been trained in it, it is like a second language - you can speak and hear either with no problem. to those of us that haven't been trained in it, it is like listening to a second language that we are not familiar with - we can figure it out, but it takes a minute.

if, as you guys say, you can tell it either way, why not post time the way MOST of america does?;)

or do i have to speak spanish in my native country?:0a10:

how about some support here peeps? am i on my own?

if so, i will say no more:blink:

    Phil,

You are SO on your own here.

Just like that woman who got religion kicked out of schools, if we let you pull this off, next thing ya know, you'll be wanting to change something else then something after that.

You are SO transparent Phil. LOL

Next thing you will be doing is asking the threads to be posted in multiple languages for all our friends who have entered this country illegally!! LOL

I use it everyday at work, so military time is easier for me.

I was snagging below KY dam early one morning. Older gentleman just down the bank was yawning frequently; I asked him what time he started fishing this morning. He was probably former military - his reply was, with a big grin, "Oh, I'd say it was about oh-dark-hundred". As good an answer as any.:)

just remember, if the sun is up time to go fishing, if the sun is down time to go fishing, if you catch it when the sun is up you caught it during the day if the sun is down yopu caught it while it was down I think its a good system and we could call it fishing standard time...
