I have an 88 Mercury 70hp outboard with power trim that will not trim down once the trim rods come in contact with the swivel bracket unless i release the pressure via the bleeder located on the lower right hand side of the right trim rod. I plan on taking it to a shop to have it troubleshooted but figured that if its something I can fix with relative is it would be worth asking around. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like either you need to put some fluid in it or you might need to bleed the system. Check the fluid and add if needed and then bleed the system to get the air out of it.

I have already tried bleeding the system and all fluids are topped off. I'm just gonna take it to the marina.
