If u got the yellow custom meathunters they are a sumo blank with the same wrap just like the catfish safari rods. I have several meathunters and the only thing i dont like is the eyes. I have lost the inserts out of them so i rewrapped them with solid stainless eyes. Otherwise great rods in my opinion

meat hunters are a good medium priced pole, i think you can get those at the village and also a-z at alma. who did you fish with last sat? how did you do?

I have about 12 total meat-hunters:eek:oooh::smile2: 7-8fters and 5 10fters. I like the 10 fters' the best, they set the hook good with circles and have a good back-bone for some of those bigger cats. I can apply more pressure when i need to in the brush and on drop-offs to get them headed to the landing net quicker than the 8fters', but the 8fter's are ok.

I really like those rods, I have 7 of the 8ft. customs and I like them better than the white rods but the white ones for the price are good rods. Heres a pic of them, i've got a few:eek:oooh::smile2:.

The only ones I've seen break were the two piece ones. I've got several of the 1 piece from 8 to 13ft. I like the12 footer the best. They're tough as nails and I've never seen any problem even with fish up to 80lbs! They're heavier than the lamiglass of fenwick, but I've seen more of those break than the meat hunters.

From what my rod builder says, they all use the same blanks. The white ones are pre-wrapped before being shipped, but the yellow and black ones are wrapped nicer at the distributer in Tulsa, OK. They're more than worth the money, you get more than what you pay for with them.

This is a little off the subject but has anyone seen the rods that are battery operated and light up? They are "supposedly" made just for catting. I saw one at walmart the other night. It seems like it would be easily broken if you hook into anything with some size on it?!:eek:oooh:

Yes thats the rod I was talking about. How is it on batteries? Does it really give ample light at night? I was at wal mart again and saw them on clearance.
