Just thought i'd share this with you all...7 years to the day I had my bad car wreck that should have killed me. Plus a cut on my neck that came an 1/8" from cutting my jugular vein, all kinds of bruises,2 black eyes and a busted up face. The worst part was I had a compression fracture of C-6(my neck) The Dr at the hospital told me that 1% or less walk away(most die instantly) from my type of injury. This was May 31,2000 when this happened. I thank God everyday that I didn't hit anyone & he spared my life!Hit a ditch line and flipped between 8-12 times. They thought I would be dead when they got to the car. I am a walking talking miracle.
This is why my neck is so messed up and part of the reason for my back.
This year,I get depressed and relive what final moments before impact.....Very hard to deal with!
And yes,the wreck was a 1 car accident and was my fault for speeding...

    John,
I've read that traumatic events like this, or the loss of a loved one, actually make a sort of (what pop psychology would call) psychic impression. For instance, people will begin feeling bad around the anniversary of a tragic event, even if they're not consciously thinking of it.

Well, I think there's some seed of truth to that.. but I also know that there's nothing in this world that has to haunt us for a lifetime... yanno? Stuff happens... it's just especially hard to overcome when we ourselves were responsible. Forgive yourself, brother :smile2: You are truly blessed.

What that means is that there is some unfinished business that God has for you to do. You will do something to affect another in His greater plan. Mortality makes you appreciate things a lot more.

I had thought of that but I know my body pretty well and know when something isn't right in me for sure...I go to Dr Tue. morn and will be referred to a neurosurgeon ASAP!!!

    John,
Thought I'd best explain... I never meant to say that surgery may not be necessary, only that emotional pain definitely compounds the physical... much like stress and worry aggravate so many illnesses.
Best wishes and prayers on that doc appt. Tuesday!

I agree but this has been a long time coming...Lots and lots of problems with head and neck for a long time...just scared for another surgery...And I know its inevitable. My neck specialist told me when I broke it that there would be no way around surgery...Its gotten to that time i'm afraid...This just scares the heck outta me!!!!!
    My bad,Doc appt is Monday...Sorry!

    John,
You know your mind and body pretty well, and far better then any of us. Fortunately there is also one that knows your soul and life plan here on Earth... perfectly!

I'm sorry that the anniversary of that event brings you down. Obviously your life was altered at that moment. It sounds like you indeed are a walking miracle. Have you ever considered, that maybe right now... that is all that is expected of you?

Your a great guy John, and I for one am glad to have had the opportunity to get to know you a little bit.

Stay positive and if you need a reality check (or anything else I can offer you) just ask.

    Your brother and friend,
    Tony

Another thing the neurosurgeon that examined me(in 2000) said that surgery was unevitable...I had lost 40% mass of C-6 and 2-3 years ago an MRI showed that my C-6 bone(what was left) was protruding into my spinal cord & degenerating and potentially to cause problems.
I've lived with these headaches and some neckaches for at least 5-6 years...Just tried to prolong neck surgery until the last minute...I just hope its not too late...
