Maumee River

    Anyone fish here? I had talked to a guy the other day who said that some big flatheads and being taken out of there. I have never fished it, but I was thinking the hour and a half drive might be worth the trip.

    I fished it tons, when I lived up that way. I've had some great luck, mostly on flatheads and Channels. There are some nice flats in there, couple of my old buddies took a 30# and a 40# out of it a couple weeks ago. I always had more luck the further east I went. Good Luck

    I've fished it a handful of times and caught a 31# flathead there back in June of last year. I've heard good things about it, and I'd fish it more if only my boat were a little smaller. It's a 17' deep V, which is too much for the portion of the Maumee round Ft.Wayne. Need a flatbottom with a small tiller, since it likes to shoot from 7' pools to 1' riffles, one after another it seems. It's nothing like the St. Joe, which feeds into it.
