I bought an assortment pack of Matzuo Sickle Trebel hooks to try out with some dough bait Eich gave me. I won't be using them again, or any Matzuo Sickle hook for that matter. I LOVE the Matzuo circle hooks, and I use the small ones for catching gills. I couldn't ask for a better hook. I got snagged, and before the line broke, the hook broke! It took less than 20 lbs of force (I use 20# BBG) to snap a #6 Sickle Treble right at the bend in the hook. After I took the photos I decided to see if it was just a fluke thing. I grasped another one of the hooks with a pair of needle nose pliers and applied moderate pressure, and it too snapped right off. I am no engineer, but I think there is an inherent weakness in the design due to the sharp bend rather than a sweeping curve. I Googled this problem, and I am not the only one who complained about it. Apparently this is an ongoing problem. So just a heads up guys.
