the night began at 430 pm myself griz little griz and little griz's bro in law and a couple of other fellas john bruce were fishing at energy in lbl at 730 pm mark little griz's bro in law hung itn to his personal best flathead weighing 14.5 lb then no fish til 230 am i was walking down the levee looking at all my rods when i noticed my berkley big game rod and jarvis walker spinning combo with a live 3in bluegil hooked though the tale with all scales removed casted out about 25ft and titelined double compleatly over so i grabbed the rod and gave a nice steady pull to make sure the hook compleatly penatrated the side of the cats mouth, then for what seamed forever actually 25 mins of give and take more give than anything getting him closer and closer to the bank while little griz was trying to net the fish then saying dad i think we need a bigger net then the fish put his nose to the ground and took off then finally he got tired and finally emerged from the murky water was this mammth of a flathead little griz and myself fanagle the brute in the net it was kinda like putting a fat girl in spandex not gonna happen easy we get him on the levee and weight min twice with a 50 lb scale those bad boys were maxed out so i put him on a long rope and wait til i can find where i can get it weighed on a certified scale so while we were waiting griz caught a 3-4 lb channel cat and i caught a 8-10 lb flathead then with the help of griz we locate a certifed scale and me and little griz both guessed wrong my new presonal best is 57lbs of mean shovelhead he was 43 in long 28 in girth and 6 in from eye to eye will have pictues in the next 2 weeks i will keep u posted

    tightlines to us all

Great post Dusty, I really enjoyed meeting and fishing with you and I'm looking forward to doing it again anytime. I will add that this fish was released in good shape after being weighed.
