First of all welcome to the BOC!!! You will get addicted shortly!
I used to live up in Maryville, and fished ALL the time, too bad the river that is right there by town is too high to fish. There are three lakes right around maryville that have decent sized cats in them. There is Mozingo Lake which is east of town on highway 136 a few miles out, you cant miss it. The fishing there is good off of the dam and at the north end of the lake. There is also the county lake which is north of town on highway 148(not sure) its called Nodaway Lake, any locals should be able to tell you how to get there. The fishing there is good off the dam, you can also walk around the lake and find some decent spots. Then there is Bilby Lake which is west of town on highway 46, this lake is good at the west end, there are numerous small ponds around bilby that have decent sized fish in them also.

Let us know how you do!! Good luck

Mozingo is probably your best bet. plenty of 10 lb channels and blues.
