I never noticed this part of the BOC.It seems everyday I'm find something new to love about the BOC.I'm wondering how many of you are Martin fans, and who your going to cheer for next year?I've been a Martin and Dale Sr. fan for a long time.Since Sr. passed away I've cheered on Jr.Jr's a good driver but nowhere near the driver his dad was at his age.I'm kind of upset about Martin retiring.I knew he couldn't race forever, but I guess I haven't found a driver that I just have to get behind.I don't like being a banwagon fan,I like to have a team,a driver whatever the sport might be through thick and thin.To me this is the hardest thing about being a race fan, sooner or later your driver will move on and you are forced to find someone new to get behind.I know now why ol'Petty fans seem so bitter about the way NASCAR has gone.I don't want to be like that,I know its a great sport and thier are some good/great drivers out there I'm just gonna have to pick one.

Mark Martin is my man. If anyone deserves a championship it's Mark. Doesn't matter where he starts, he always works his way up into the top ten or top 5. He is a driver's driver and a gentleman. Have you seen that commercial where he/his double does the back flips and a younger driver calls him," Crazy old man."/ Right, crazy fike a fox.

He says he will run a few races yet next year. I don't remember which ones they are. He has a Ford dealership in Batesville, Ark, his home town, and has a museum on one end of it. The museum has some of his old racing cars, trophies, etc. I haven't been down to see it yet but the advertisements says it is 6000 square feet. That has got to hold lots of memorabilia. If you go, it's on the south side of town on highway 167.

thats cool about his museum being at his dealership .
id like to own a truck with his name on it !!!
whats the name of the place? martin ford???

talkin about drivers museums and memorbila, bill elliot has a neat museum in his hometown i think its in dawsonville ga. it has tons of stuff .
theres pieces of wrcked cars that are not much more than the roll
cage left with a tire dangleinghere or there its pretty amazeing to see an up close aftermath of a race car wrecked like that.

i agree i think mark deserves a championship (not given to him though)
he has always seemed like a straight forwarsd calm driver that didnt whine
and offer excuses for a poor performance like aot of em are notorious
    for .

i really hated it when he went to the viagra car . that was an embarrasing
sponsership to have a hat or shirt with that emblazoned across it.
i just kept my #6 valvoline hat till it fell apart .

I dont think Martin will get a championship. He is too passive of a driver.
You gotta be aggressive in some form or fashion to get a championship.
but I wont count out seeing a different side of Mark this year so far but is it too little too late?

I like Martin but i agree with Mark he has not been aggressive enough to win championship takes that little bit more.Know this year i have seen him lay the fender to move guys out of the way more than i ever remeber him doing it before.Maybe since its his last year full time he's said who cares who i piss off im going for it.

I'd like to see Martin get his championship this year, he deserves to have that after being close so many times.

A fan since his early days racing up here! Looks like he'll run the trucks full time next year and a few bush and nextell pluss the all star!

I have a collection of his stuff but when he went viagra the wife limited me to a car, a cap and a shirt - now I am back to it with AAA!

He will only win a championship with LUCK! Taladaga was his undoing last year with that early out - a top ten there and the championship would have been his! I wish Jack would have taken better care of Mark over the years cause he should have had a championship long ago! He may have to live his dream through Kenseth, a car he part ownes!

This year I am following two other drivers as well as Mark, Edwards and Harvick - guess I will follow them and see what comes!

To all those who have given up on Nascar! Everything in life from raising kids to sports to your job is no longer the same - change, change, change! We all must adjust or we would still be racing on the beach!

I admit Mark isn't as agressive as some successful drivers. He is and has been a very successful driver for much of his carrer. As far as too little too late- he currently 3rd in points. The chase is far from over.I can't say I haven't doubted Mark at times for not "rubb'n"more and he's come out of the race with a top 5 finish.I recall in the 90's(don't remember the exact year, forgive me) Mark broke the record for the most points by a driver, but so did Gordon by a few more points. His patience, and ability to let the race come to him is what has made him successful for so long. Now that I think about it ,thats probubly what made him stand out to me to begin with. It's only when the race doesn't come that we as fans doubt his tatics. When he takes 2 tires and wins everyone calls him a genuis.I think this man is a champion of this sport wither he wins the cup or not.The filp'n double commercial is as flashy as i've ever seen martin and I get a kick out of it.Whats so funny about it though is he is the last driver you would expect to show-off like that. That skit wouldn't work with Gordon,or other more flashy drivers. Its the irony of it all that makes it so silly. He demonstrates patience, humility, team work, perseverance better than most any sports star of our time.To me this is waht makes him a champion in my book.

Mark Martin guy here too. I actually work just outside of Batesville and many of the guys I work with grew up with Mark and they are still friends with him. We see him around town here quite often. He comes to the dealership from time to time and is building a new house here. He is a very good driver and a great guy. He could win the championship but even if he don't, he still is a champion. We can continue to follow Mark as he goes full time Truck racing next year. His son Matt is a budding new star for the coming years. I think Matt is now 14 and doing quite well in his racing career.

Next year? Well I really like a few of the new drivers. I like Kasey Kane. He respects Mark and seems to be shaping his style after Mark. I also like Carl Edwards. Since I'm a Roush fan, I'll probably pull hard for Edwards.

I grew up in a family that thought moonshine was a legitimate business and were big Petty and Jr. Johnson fans. I had none of the old guys to go with so at Petty's last race I picked a new kid that was running his first Winston Cup that day so I didn't have to take some other driver. I was hoping he would be good enough to win 1 or 2 races a year.

It was Jeff Gordon. I was happy. It was tough to wear those colors around the campgrounds at the track. It seemed everyone either loved him or hated him with few in between. I always looked out for flying beer cans.

As far as I'm concerned Mark Martin is the best driver to have never won a championship, that says a lot with all the great drivers that haven't won one.

Mark Martin fan here also. When I first started watching NASCAR, I liked him because he was from my home state. But over the years, I learned to respect him as a driver and as a person. If he did something wrong, he took the blame and said "I'm sorry". He was a clean racer. Except for Bristol. If you didn't have a banged up car at Bristol, it's because you weren't in the race. I have an autographed car signed by Mark Martin. It looks so cool under lights. After Martin leaves, It will be Jimmy Johnson all the way.

I must admit that I normally pull for DJ. I mean, he's a home town guy for me. I live about five miles from him. But I am also a Martin fan. He's a great driver and a sincerely humble, nice gentleman. Did you know he recently appeared on a CBS soap opera (as himself)? It was so funny to see him on there. I hope he gets his championship this year. He deserves one.
