Not sure it is as simple as max voltage held but I am not smart enough to understand all I read about batteries. A local tire and battery shop guy told me without a more elaborate testing devise then a multimeter it is hard to determine the health of a battery. He did say if you can get a 12V wet cell to charge from 12.5 to14 V. and hold that charge without any drain for 24 hrs. it is likely good. It seems mine tend to last for about 30 days after the warranty expires LOL.

have it load tested at any auto parts store load test will tell the whole story
Most of the parts houses here in OkC area will test batteries, etc, for free. So, I would imagine most national chain parts houses will do the same.
