I heard rumors from a couple places that they are planning to put a ramp on the Kaw below the Maple Hill bridge next year, just wondered if anyone else had heard anything about this.

The tree hugging hippies have been talking about it for some time but last I talked to the F&G guys the only one in the works is the new Topeka ramp which openn I think this coming April. He said he had heard several requests for it by them but the funding is not there to do it.

We're getting a boat ramp here at Humboldt and you cant even go anywhere because several landowners downstream are real radical.

Well there is half the problem, don't beleive anything that you read there, or if you do read it you have to wade thru the made up stuff or the stuff they put in the stories to make it read better or get people worked up.

This are the ones they are asking for funding for. From what I hear the funds are still not there as of yet. I did hear though that they are going to put them in the only thing is they will not be true ramps, just cleared off areas more suited for canoe launching. Things might have changed though it was Aug when I talked to the F&G guys about this and the new Topeka ramp.

I'd be ok with that on the KC stretch. I think we have enough ramps, what we really need are a few places where folks can bank fish without fear of being run off or arrested. Plus it's nice to have some stretches that are a little more difficult to reach by boat.

I hear that Gary. I'm happy they are doing the one above the weir in Topeka, that opens up a large area to fish now! I grew up fishing a lot of that area, but the leasing of the land has gotten so out of control its not even funny. A good part of the land the owners will not let anyone on, no questions asked. Now I just need to get the truck sold and find a jet to run the river.

Where is the new one going in at Topeka? Will it allow travel upstream of the waterworks by Highway 75? I hate putting in at Wamego and running so far downstream with my heavy boat in case of problems. I got 3 friends to help and carried it up to the 75 overpass and a trailer once, not wanting to repeat that again. Thanks!
