My Grandfather Joe Smith was one heck of a Fisherman.
He was Born and rased in the PNW round Seattle and over the years he built quite the collection of reals.
I never had the chance to meet my Grandfather in life but the storys that my Mom told me over the years have had quite the impact on the way I look at my gift.
I have had a burning urge in my life to fish and to understand..
My Mom passed away on November 18th. A week prior to her passing she sent me all my Grandfathers Reals..
Im absolutley blown away and have spent all of three days cleaning and oil'n..
I must say that Mom and Grandpa both hooked me up and I cant think of anything better than to have the chance to fish with the same equipment that my Grandfather had so many years ago..

Now Im not looking for sympothy..
Just found it soo cool that my Mom held on to all this for so many years with out me knowing and to send them when she did was just mind boggeling ..

Scotty, Thanks for sharing this with us all. Your Mom Gave you an absolutely PRICELESS gift.

I wonder how many times, when you are looking over that nice collection of Classics, you thought "if only these reels could talk to me and tell me a few stories" I know I would.

Thanks for sharing this with us and Welcome to the BOC!

Sorry for your loss. I know what you mean about how cool it is to fish with your grandfathers gear. I, too, inherited some of my grandfathers fishing gear. I am afraid to fish it, though in case it gets damaged. Definitely some of my most prized possessions.
