Male vs. Female flathead catfish

    Hey all:

    Do any of you know how to tell the difference between a male and a female flathead? Anything to do with the size of the shoul;ders like with channel cats? Please advise.

    Does one get a lot bigger then the other? Male/Female I mean?

    dont know about the one bigger thing. i remember that the difference was in the orfices. i cant find the pictures, sorry.

    Females are generally the largest. Somebuddy chime in if I'm wrong.

    Females have three holes on there stomach, most prononced before she spawns. You need to search with something like a ballpoint pen .between the two obvious ones .

    I dont know the difference of any catfish.

    Well...first of all, females are generally bigger than males. Females are short and stubby and males are long and slinder! That is a general run of thumb for flatheads!​
