    Well, today I launched at the providence access here in Columbia. I had no problem catching bait but couldn’t even buy a strike..Oh well it was a nice day to be on the river..When loading up to leave one guy said he landed 2 so I guess there is hope for Sunday…Good fishin’ to all.

    Hey Jeff, Where did you catch your bait? I guess you got shad? I caught what few fish I caught on store bought shad below wing dikes with water running threw them. Good luck.

    Rob, I caught the shad in a smaller river flowing into the Missouri. The shad were huge one was 14 inchs.

    Andrew, Gizzard shad can grow pretty big. According to William Pfliegers' "The fishes of Missouri". Gizzard shad adults are commonly 9-14 inches and the largest reported was 20.5" and weighed 3 pounds 7 ounces! Biggest I have ever seen was about 16 inches.
