Just got a 6600 and was wondering how light of a lure I could cast with it
cant say, alot would depend on your rod, line size, and ability. 1/4 maybe 1/8????:confused2:
I bass fished for years with 5500 & 5000 abu's. If it's set right you didn't have problems throwing crank baits or zara spooks. Itno the wind sometimes will leave a man diggin a birds nest out.
remember this reel does not have that fancy adjustable magnetic drag that the bass reels have. I can cast 1/8 oz but it is hard. 3/8 is more of a realistic with 14lb test, mh bass rod, and a ready thumb. I would def use mono, easier to pick and cheaper if u have to cut a backlash out
I wouldn't use it for lures that light. You are just asking for bird nests. Just my two cents. I use spinning reels if I am going to throw lures that light even when bass fishing. I really prefer baitcasting reels by the way, but they were just not designed for light casts.
