Hello, fellow members, Happy Holidays! Great site & info! Has anyone ever downloaded the free maps, at the lowrance site. Just wondering if the downloads were safe and the maps accurate? Any info would be helpful, thanks. Gillfish

I have downloaded a couple. No problems and pretty good maps. A good map for free, I say you can't beat that.

I haven't downloaded any of the maps, but I've downloaded several other programs from lowrance without a problem. I use the sonar viewer and data manager (until I get mapcreate), as well as the emulators for the units I have. They all get a thumbs up!

The free maps aren't bad for being free maps.

In my experience, they contain the same amount of information and detail as the paper "fishing hotspots" maps you can buy at Wally World and elsewhere. Any of the digital map products that you pay for will have more information.

If nothing else, you've got a digital representation of your paper map and that's a lot better for knowing exactly where you are and what the bottom structure ahead of you is like.

I've used a couple of them. They are ok for general reference purposes.
