fruitwood works the best. cherry, apple, etc.
I wanted to look around a little beforehand, but the fella that was with me was eager to get started. I wanted to look around and see if there was room along the canal for my 27 foot camper. Suppose I could put it in the campground.
Me and the Misses are heading back down on Saturday. The camper is not making the trip though. Gonna catch some bait tomorrow and Friday. Should be a fun one again.... hopefully with fish this time.
Ok Ill see ya out there. We gotta join fishing groups this time.
Funny you say that....my honda timing chain broke and I've been driving my mini van!!!!!!!!!
Well at least you guys know where I am!
For sure. Looks like it is gonna be a chilly one Saturday. Gonna bring the insulated coveralls and a coat. Weird weather this year.
OK, change of plans. Gonna be there Sunday. Hope you can still make it out then Frank.
Good Luck Tom,Catch a Big Flat,Your Due,J.D.
I didn't make it. Went to the doctor yesterday for a strained shoulder muscle and the doctor wanted to run an EKG. They did and found a problem with my ticker. Didn't feel much like fishing after that. Going to see a specialist and see what can be done.
Sorry to hear that Tom. Good luck and get well soon and get back after them cats!!
Sorry to hear that Tom. Hope everything turns out well. Best of luck!
hope you get better
We are hoping it turns out well. You still have plenty of fish to catch!!
Well you didnt miss much. Canal is super high with lots of line trash.
Still got a nice stringer.
Well let me know about the next trip and take it easy bro!
Probably gonna be this next Saturday. Grand kids have a swim meet in York in the morning so we'll be down that way.
Heading that way after a trip to Norfolk. Gotta pick some stuff so we can bring the camper down in the near future.
Canal has been a dead zone for flatheads. We have gotten some good size channels off live bait, but the flatheads either moved or got jungle fever and can't get off the spawn!
Hope everyone is having a better year on the yellow's than I am!
They've been pretty consistent on the missouri, big ones been kinda hard to come by but there's been plenty of flatheads up to 15 pounds, didn't even notice when they were on the nest, sizes were maybe a little smaller when they were spawning
About time to break out the fishing gear! I'm usually fishing the canal by now but I just havn't made a trip yet.
I'll be out there this weekend checking the settling basin for channies!
Hope everyone has a good year!
are they really on the bite this early in the settling basin?....if so what are you baiting with and what is the strategy. im dying to catch some cats
