I'll be ordering a new reel shortly. I have Rock-&-Roll ears. If it isn't loud, I might not hear it. So, I need a reel with a LOUD clicker. Any suggestions? Certainly would appreciat it. Thanks guys.

I recently purchased a Ambassadeur 6000. It has a nice clicker. I also have a Tidewater 30L baitcaster and it also has a loud clicker. I would suggest you go try some demo reels and make sure on which reel you would need. Hope that helps!

I have an Abu 6000,6000c,and 2 6500cl3's and the clicker is pretty loud on all mine.I think it varies on reels, something with the 'clicker piece' bent more.

    Dick,

Most stores around have display's of the reels they sale. I would say your best bet would be to go "hear" the reels clickers. If you are unable to do that, The loudest I have heard have all been on saltwater reels.

P.S. when are we going fishing agian, matbe next time we can visit some of the water closer to you.

The loudest I have found are Newell reels. I've got a couple of 229-5's, and they could wake the dead. But they don't have levelwinds.. actually that's not a big deal after you use them a couple of times.

Most Penns have load clickers, especially the 310GTI's and the 220GTO's.

In Abu's, the 7000 on up are pretty loud, the 6xxx models are not so loud.

Some of the Shakespeares have great clickers - the Tidewater 30L is pretty loud.

Nothing beats "hands on" if you can get to a shop that has several on display.

Shoot fire, don't worry about the clicker. Put a brass bell on the pole and you will know everything there is to know about a bite. LOL

loudest clickers i have ever heard are on Shimano Bantam 50's! the size and line capacity of them are in between a 6500 abu and a 7000 abu. they are a little less smooth than an abu and you need to thumb it more because they dont have the internal brakes, but they will wake you out of a dead sleep!

Shimano Charter Special 2000 LD clicker sounds louder to me than my Mitchel 4/0 or my Penn 5/0 345 GTI reel. Now think about it.For many of us,LOUD is not the problem. Many times it is frequency loss,or a combination of the two. What is loud for one may be quiet for another.I believe that the opinion of another is often useless when it comes to hearing. We are born different and constantly changing differently throughout our life where our hearing is concerned.I once had a Ear Specialist tell me that as far as they knew, the only people that hear exactly alike are the "Totally Deaf".Makes sense to me.I would try out anything that I am interested in.I wish you the best of luck. Please let us know what you decide on and how you like it after using it.Thanks,peewee-williams

I think the Abu 7000 is probably the loudest that I've heard. There are probably others.
Coupled with the fact that it is a quality reel, I would recommend it.

On a side note. If you ever want to get your (dozing off) partners attention, leave the clicker on when you cast:lol:

My ABU 7000's are pretty loud. You could also try a copper bell.

I have Penn 320's, 310's and a couple of the new 220's. The 220's are the loudest, and it's hard to beat the price of $55 each. :smile2:

The Penn's I've heard have been loud.
I have a PATCO 50 reel that is pretty loud (smoother than an abu, no plastic in it, and was cheaper too ) ...

It also throws farther than an ABU 6500c3 and holds 300 yards of 80lb super braid. One drawback (or benefit) is that it had no levelwind.

Have to go with Abu Garcias here....but I will say the clicker on my 6000 is loud enough to wake me up from a deep sleep (know from experience lol) but the one on my 6500 is only moderately loud....best thing is like most have said...get to a tackle shop and pull out some line on em...check that way.
