That's exactly how I do it when I want to keep bait off the bottom. But sometimes I put it even as close as 2 inches from the hook. It's really a nice setup, especially in real snaggy areas. My latest rig is two hooks on a 30 inch leader, one at the bottom, one about 18 inches up and a small wallyworld plastic bobber about 3-5 inches from the bottom hook. That way you can fish two different depths simultaneously, adjust the bobber as needed if you want to go higher / lower.loop said:
