Just wondering? What makes a meal more appealing, looks or taste? Personally I prefer taste, I could care less about floral decor "parsley" and such. Whats your opinions?

I reckon taste is the most important, good looks don't satisfy hunger. I read that the reason all the decorations are there to make food look more appealing and enhance the taste.

Oh Ozzy, a food connoisseur such as yourself should know that parsley isn't just for decoration. After you eat a particularly uh, aromatic meal, the parsley can be chewed and serves as a breath freshener.

Cooking is a creative endeavor in more ways than one in my opinion....so, it's cool if it also looks pretty as well as tasting delicious.

However, if I'm really hungry - just slop it on the plate and yum-yum! :smile2:

I'm with Richard 100%. I love to smell a good meal before I taste it. Gets the juices flowing, builds the anticipation. Then, oh sweet mamma!!! That first bite!!!

In most circumstances, taste.... However If it looks bad, there's a chance that I might not eat it. My wife plays Bunco every first Monday of the month. Everyone takes a covered dish. If I get home from work early, I'll make her something to take. One Halloween, I found a recipe for a "kitty litter cake". It looked like the real thing. It's amazing how close tootsie rolls look.....

Depends on how much I paid for it as to how I expect it to look lol. Kidding! I don't care how my food looks. I do like colorful food, but not decorated food. And a good steak...that is cooked right...will look as good as it tastes, but just throw a pile of fried taters on top, and I'm good. This subject reminds me of a thread I will start with a meat tip.

Looking at food doesn't make my mouth water like smelling it does, but tasting something that looked better than it was is a real bummer. I maintain the old adage, If it looks good eat it. If it don't, beat it!
