Most people associate Penn with bait or trolling reels but they have a very good selection of spinning reels. There is a very good line of stainless steel reels made by Penn. I do have one that I've had for about 20 years without the first problem.

I mainly use Mitchell open face reels for my fishing.

I own 6 Shimano Baitrunners, 3 4500b's and 3 6500b's and they are awesome bulletproof reels. You cant go wrong with them, Good luck with your choice

I have a Shimano Baitrunner 4500 mounted on a 7' Medium Heavy Ugly Stik and absolutely love it. The baitrunner feature is a treat..all in all a great reel if you ask me.

TICA Sportera has treated me very well and has handled a few large fish. I only use spinning reels for my flathead fishin.
