Nope, it's not a fish, it's a big ole western diamondback. I found it on the road near Talahina, OK a few days ago. It was between 4.5 & 5 ft. long.

That's big rattler! It's good to see someone who does not think that the only good rattler is a dead one:wink:. What did you end up doing with it?

I released it after taking the photos. Went back to the area today and found a probable den site, but didn't see any other snakes.

After you've been around snakes for over 35 years you can read their body language pretty well. It's not as dangerous as you might think. You do have to respect them though. :smile2:

LMAO.......... Exactly!!!!!!!!!! I average 3 rattlers a year Some get away though......Never ate one, always thought about it, but then I think otherwise. Tan the skin and use em for this and that. Nice rattler for sure.

Big one! Thanks for the pictures.

I heard on the Foxnews a few days ago that Abilene, TX was having a real problem in the last week or so with rattlers coming into town. They said it was because it had been so warm.

This picture was taken at a drilling yard at Abilene last year. A forklift driver picked up a "pit" (10 ft by 10 ft by 30 ft), set it back down and called the office.
"I need some people out here with shotguns". Three men showed up. Killed 62, said at least that many got away.
