Is it any wonder that teachers view education differently today??
    Check out the following:

never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized
    students and teachers.

Scenario: Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.

1973 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up best
friends. Nobody goes to jail, nobody arrested, nobody expelled.

2006 - Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Johnny and Mark. Charge
them with assault, both expelled even though Johnny started it.

and joins a gang. Billy's sister is told by state psychologist that she
remembers being abused herself and their Dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has
    affair with psychologist.

Scenario: Mark gets a headache and takes some headache medicine to school.

1973 - Mark shares headache medicine with Principal out on the smoking dock.

2006 - Police called, Mark expelled from school for drug violations. Car
    searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario: Pedro fails high school English.

1973: Pedro goes to summer school, passes English, goes to college.

2006: Pedro's cause is taken up by state democratic party. Newspaper
articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement
for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against state
school system and Pedro's English teacher. English banned from core
curriculum. Pedro given diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living
    because he can't speak English.

Scenario: Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the 4th of July,

sad thing is how true this is. just sad anymore whats going on. out of all the kids going to school in america there are less than 10 shootings a year and no mattere what they do there always will be. rule do not stop people from snapping it just happens sad when it does but it just happens. they put these metal detestors in the schools like the kid just cant wait outside and shoot some1. the only difference between now and then is that the kids got assault rifles instead of the old 22.

Those are so true, I would go to football pratice after morning hunt with camo on and my bow/gun in my truck. That was in the mid 90's, I would still be in jail if I did that now.

The Zero tolerance rules makes Zero sense a lot of the time.

Classic case: 16-year-old honor student was expelled from high school after a security guard found a butter knife in the bed of his pickup truck parked on the school grounds. The knife apparently fell out of a box of household items he and his father had transported the previous day from his grandmother's home to a local Goodwill store.

    I agree!
If kid's now day's were raised like some of us older folks, there would be less crime?

If I talked to my parents like some kids do now, I would get knocked across the room.

I remember a time when my kid's were younger and we were in the check out lane at WalMart, and my Daughter started throwing a fit, because I wouldn't buy her a toy she seen on the shelf.
I busted her butt right there in line and I couldn't believe some of the looks I got from some of the other shoppers?
You would have thought I had done the most horrible thing there was?

Where I work, there is a lot of young people, waiting to go to trial for crimes they committed. If their parents would have busted their butt's when they needed it, they probably wouldn't be there today?

Nowadays so many parents are scared of getting DHS called on them and them getting in trouble for disciplining their kid's, and that's one reason most of this garbage goes on?

I got a 5 yr old, and about a year ago we were in walgreens. He was acting up, and ran off. Well when I caught up to him he got a swat on the butt. Not hard enough he cried, but enought to get his attention. I had some lady come up, and tell me that she can't believe that I had just subjected her son to that. I looked down, and calmly told her that this was my child that I swatted. Then she said something about that she should call child protective services, but didnt get to finish. Her angel was pushing snow globe off the shelf so they would break on the floor, and laughing. he was about 8-9. She told him he cant do that, and to stop. Then when she started walking back over to me he did it again. I said fairly loudly to swat him on the butt, and he might listen better. One old man that watched the whole thing started clapping. She got pissed and left the store.
