I have a livewell up front with two hoses that enter from the bottom. One is the drain and the other with a 3/4 inch hose back to the Rule pump. Here is the problem. When i turn on the pump it just runs but no water is pushed into the well. I have flushed out the hose and pump and removed the screen from the transom. Now here is the confusing part...i remove the hose from the pump and allow water to run out of the pump and back from the well out the hose, reconnect the hose and everything works the rest of the day. And the bottom of the boat is dry, so I dont have any leaks. Any ideas?

Your pump is not self Priming.. When you let the water run back down to the pump, its "priming" the lines... Make sure your getting water To the pump

Or switch the pump out for a self priming pump.

I've seen alot of front livewells that just had a trickle for water input and some that just wouldnt pump water at all.
In all of the cases including one I owned the problem was pump size.
The pump didnt have enough capacity to pump the distance plus the water column.
Its not a pressurized system making it inefficient to start with.
    Try a bigger pump.
