I went out with my new captiva live liner. I had the back drag set to just where the line wouldn't free spool off the reel. I set the pole on my tackle box, and flipped the lever to engage the liveliner feature. But when I got a bite, the rod tip bobbed like it does with a normal reel, and no line played off the reel. Granted, the bites weren't huge, as all that was biting was little bullheads. Am I doing something wrong, or does it take a bigger bite for the liveliner feature to work? Thanks.

I think it would take a bigger bait for the live liner to work, but u can check it to make sure it is working.

Angela , it definitely takes a bigger bite. I have 4 baitrunners. (2 Okumas, 2 Shimanos) I find that if I keep my rod horizontal , instead of vertical, the line comes out alot easier.

Alot of times smaller fish just peck at the bait whereas a bigger fish ussually grabs bait and runs.
