I fish a lot with jugs, but have just started using live perch, my question is how long of a drop line off the main line should you use with live bait. Right now I am using about 8 inch line on a swivel. I am only putting 2 hooks per jug 10 foot apart, do not really want to fight 3 big fish on l line.

I normally use about a 12 in. drop from the main line.

    For permanent Jugs,
8 to 12 inch leaders should be fine. I use 3 way swivels to reduce twisting with live bait with 7/0 and 8/0 circle hooks.Ten feet apart seems like a lot, I go with 3 hooks on mine spaced every 3 to 4 feet up from the bottom.

thanks, I am going at 3 in the morning, I will put the lines at 12 and give it a try. I have 4 hooks on most of my jugs, but made some up special just for the live bait was the reason I went with 2 hooks. I have had two on one jug both going over 30, and it is a little more than an old man can handle easy. Thanks again
