Little black spots in the Bluegill - Are they O.K. to eat?

    i caught some blue gill and rock bass to day and when i skinned them the had black specks in the meat, does any body know what this is?

    they are most likely worms

    Catfish - those black spots are little grubs or parasites that are in a certain phase of their life cycle. I understand they are harmless if the fish is properly cooked. They are often found in bluegill.

    They're often found in Ba** also.

    yep my friend kickin_wing has a pond that has b@ss covered with these and i think they are harmless :)

    Make sure that they're cooked.

    Well, I don't know if I would give them to a friend, but there are a few people that I have known that I would give them to.

    I just read a short article in the may issue of Outdoor Life that was about this. It said these black specks are black grubs and that they are harmless. Hope this helps.
