I got tired of removing line slowly , messy and inefficiently,, I tried a store bought one and it wouldn't work,

I came up with this...Put the reel on on old dead rod,

I use an old empty line spool, I use a 3/8's bolt with some washers and a jam nut.

Put this in my Drill Press, turn it on and let'r rip. and Rip it does!!!!

I set the tension on the spool so that it will pull the line off the reel but, when I hit the end of the Line,LOL,,, ithe spool can spin on the bolt,,light tension on that, or I can cut it with my handy knife!!

Don't forget to put the reel in freespool!!!!

Re-spooling to follow in next post

Me too...been doin it forever. I didn't have a dowel so I use the rod off them plastic blinds ....connect it to my cordless dewalt and let her rip .

I also feel better having the line put back on the old spool . I've seen birds tangled in line and it's a sad sight to see.

Bump. I havn't done this but I might next time. I usually only change my line once a year since the summer season is about the only time I do any fishing.
