I'm sure this topic has been beat to death a millon times, but something new may have come up. So what type line do ya use on those catfish rigs?

I use big game usually, and 25lb test with a 45lb top shot... Usually just 3 or 4 rounds of the reel.

I understand Ande' s good line....

I like Big Game #30 on my 7000's and am trying TOW braid #80 laid over #17 Trilene on a couple of my 6500's and so far both combos seem to be very compatible to the conditions in which I fish. Stay safe and stick a pig!!!

My setup consists of 50 lb. yellow braid main, and 20 lb. clear stren leader line. I fish the carolina rig as well.

I like the Ande Monster Yellow 30# and the Big Game Solar Green in 30# & 40#. I use all of them and have no problems with any of it.

I use Ande for everything.4lb for channels, 8 & 16lb tournament for flatheads. As long as I check the line for knicks occasionaly I have never had a fish break the line. A good drag on your reel is more important than line type or pound test.

I got caught up in the moment; I fished BG Line for a few years, until I found a Better Line...It was P-Line:wink::big_smile::big_smile:

No kidden..Try it, It might cost a little more , but it will outlast the others and is way smaller in diamiter= more on spool=less $$$ in the long run for a better line:wink: Did I say it was P-LINE:big_smile:

For cold weather, deep water fishing I currently have 12 reels spooled with yellow 80# Tug-o-War braid from Team Catfish. I use 20# and 30# Cajun Red mono for leader. If you haven't used TOW Braid, call Jeff. I think he still has some 100 sample spools.
In the summer months when the channel cats are shallow, it is 30# Cajun Red mono all the way.

I use Ande for everything but cats.I think I'm going to give that Hi-vis Yellow a try this year John.Only ever used the clear and I don't think I would ever use another Mono.

I use andre high-vis yellow 30 pd. mono with a 40 pd leader for the most part. I also use 65 pd. powerpro high-vis yellow with a 40 pd mono leader. I love my Andre. Definately the toughest line that I have ever used.

I use 50# PP on my big rods and 30# Wesrtern XP or my main rods and 15# and 20#Tuff line on my bait rods. I have braid on my gill and bait poles. I have had northern grab on a worm while catching bait. Braid is so thin but really strong to handle big fish. And casts a lot better than mono. Mono has to much memory i do not like coils in my line.

For mono, Ande; usually tournament or premium. Been using Ande for thirty years!

    Braid: Spiderwire
