Lifting an outboard??

    Yep, it's about that time. I need to pull the *new* motor (115 Evinrude) off the donor boat and the 80 merc off the Cuddy.

    I have a 2 ton shop crane but need to know the proper way to grab a-hold of the motor.
    Use a short tow strap type affair??? Or ???

    Don't know about the Merc., but the Evinrude should have a lift eye bolted to the block, unless someone has removed it.

    1-get a buddy to help you
    2-remove the evinrude very gently wrap in a soft blanket and store in warm dry place
    3-the merc you can just loosten it way up and go down the bumpiest road you can find till it falls off. that saves you the trouble of removal and disposal!
