Who uses which type and why? I have both and it seems the non levelwind cast farther but don't handle braid as well as levelwind. On my big rigs I have non levelwind for I get much better casting distance with mono line. For the non levelwind users do you have a special trick for reeling in your line to keep it even on the spool? I just use my thumb of my oposite hand, it works well and it takes a little getting used to until it becomes second nature.

All my flattin reels are non-levelwind now.I just use my thumb like you.I like braid better,it doesn,t seem to dig into itself as easy when you got it on a non-levelwind.Plus,when I cast out as far as I,m gonna be fishing,I,ll peel off about 20 more feet, then I,ll wind that 20ft back on really spread out.It kind of forms a barrier where it won,t dig in past.
