    It depends on the area, but its some big ones out there.

    The 40 pound range for me have been running about 43 inches long so they get big. Thats almost 4 feet. there are huge flats out their that people havent brought in so no telling how big they really get.

    it states that the largest flathead catfish (which have been caught commercially) are nearly 5 feet (60" long). wikipedia also states that flatheads grow to "61 inches"...

    No doubt you'll need an awfully big livewell if you want to keep the next world record catfish!

    I've caught two around 48 inches one weighed 50 another 65 I just didn't know if they got much longer or if they just got bigger around.

    seams to me they start getting fatter opposed to longer when the reach 30#.
