I am in the market for a trolling motor for my 17' deep V. I heard from friends that I need at least a 50" shaft. Well I found a mini koda dirt cheap but it only has a 48" shaft. Will a 48" shaft work? :eek:oooh: Thanks for any help.

Minn Kota recommends submerging the motor head a min of 12" below the water surface. With your boat on the water measure from the surface where it will be mounted to the water surface, add 12" for submergance, then I would allow a lil extra so you have some adjustability.

    I've got a 16' deep-v myself, and yes you'll need the 54" shaft.

And in waves the 54" shalt may come out of the water on you.
