Leeches

    anyone no how to catch and where to catch leeches.I just paid 31 dollars for a pound of leeches(150-200) and was wondering how to catch them

    If you are in an area that as leeches use a minnow trap with a small opening bait it with the freshest bloodest meat you can get. They will come to it. check it often and keep bait fresh as they will scape quickly.

    I used to trap leeches as a kid. I found a design that used a soup can with the lid still attached. You would put something bloody in the can (I used steak, liver, etc.) and squeeze the can's top, then lower the lid most of the way. Put a hole in the lid and tie a line to this hole. Put the can in the water near cover and in the shade and tie the other end of the line to the bank. Come back later and get the can out of the water fast. Worked well for me.
