does everyone use leaders, because a friend and i had a discussion on this, and i think that leaders may be going a little overboard, but he seems to think that a cats teeth can damage the integrity of the line, and i also think that a fish would sense steel against its skin before it would on fishing line, i use power pro by the way.

I use 50# mono 18-24" with a swivel and slide weight. I also use a float to keep the bait just off the bottom.

I use 80lb test P-Line or Sufix mono leader line on a slip sinker rig, and havent had any problems catching flatheads.

I didn't use leaders for years but, after having some 30# trilene break I started using them and since have had no problems. I do agree that you should check your line for nicks often.

Cody, I use PP also but, I use a 80lb. mono leader. The mono is more abrasion resistant...

Same here, PP with a mono leader. More abraision resistant and saves the expensive line from constant cutting.
