In the spirit of feasting - which most of you are recovering from this holiday season - what would you request if you had a choice for one final meal?

As much as I want to get away from type I can't:

Three pieces of southern fried chicken (I say "southern" because some people here claim they've never heard of fried chicken

    Mashed potatoes and gravy

Two regular size corn on the cob

    Cornbread

Sweetened ice tea with a touch of lemon (another item that's difficult to find here)

Strawberry cheesecake for dessert (the only thing I didn't grow up with) :grin-big:

Umm, my other favorite subject! I have to go with prime rib, cooked just short of medium, with a few jumbo shrimp, garden grown string beans, Baked potatoe with sour cream and bacon bits, garlic bread, ceaser salad (home grown of course)and pecan pie with french vanilla ice cream chased down with a sniffer of 50 year old cognac and a fine cigar!

Dick, I would have to follow that iced tea up with some ice water as a last request. There isn't anything like iced water...LOL

I have to agree with Vic on the "Southern" fried Chicken, or "Home Fried" as my mom used to refer to it along with the mashed potatoes and gravy. The corn on the cob would do OK but I would rather have Broccoli or my most favorite vegetable, asparagus with home made dinner rolls.

Of course all this is made with slimfast, uh huh. Schoe

    You've started something here Vic.
I would have to go with:-
    Roast leg of lamb,
    New potatoes,
    Lima beans,
    Yorkshire Pudding,
    Gravy,
Freshly made mint sauce and Coleman's mustard on the table.
All washed down with a pint of English beer
Any dessert item that my wife makes.

Vic, are you sure you don't want a nice big dessert order from Shoneys? :) ...W

Winston, Shoney's hot fudge sundae is one of my favorite desserts, but it doesn't hold a candle to strawberry or cherry cheesecake done right. LOL.

I would have to go with Deer backstrap cooked Med. Rare in bacon greese. Mashed potatoes and gravy, one piece of corn on the cob, a big piece of corn bread a side of fried Okra and some of those fried apples from craker barrle. Now for dessert I would have a giant bowl of Neopolatain Ice cream. Yep I believe that would just about do it.

Vic, you are missing one item that I would add some good collard greens to that meal. That would be a meal made for Heaven, Amen!

Bob, how could I forget the collared greens? Probably because I haven't had any done right in many years. LOL. However, if I added anything like that to the plate it would have to be spinach, or something that we ate every now and then: Polk salad. Ever heard of it? Looks like greens mixed with scrambled eggs. LOL.

Buffalo Filet Mignon wrapped in thick pepper bacon, stone fire grilled medium rare topped with sundried tomatoes, Goat Marscapone cheese, portabella, shitake, and black mushrooms, and sauteed in white wine garlic sauce. (Modified "Filet Brian" from Carabba')

King tiger prawns boiled creole style, (lotsa stuff in the boil)

Boiled new potatoes done like my wife does them,

Asparagus shoots with the basalmic parmasan dressing,

    TRUE caesar's salad,

and finish it off with Deep fried cheesecake with ghiradelli fudge and caramel on it.

To drink, a small keg of labatt blue light.

Jim, I don't know where my parents came up with some of the stuff we used to eat, but we used to eat wild stuff like that all the time. I remember it having a taste similar to spinach with a twist. LOL. Now that's one item I know you can't get from any grocery store, and probably isn't eaten much these days. If you ever get a chance to try some it's pretty good...

Now that you mention root...we used to drink sassafrass tea...definitely an acquired taste
