What is the biggest hook you own? I have a 20/0 treble like the one in the Catfish Connection book that I got for free. I also have 2 20/0 J hooks I bought a few years ago. I bought them to make a gaff hook for Mr. Big. But they are great conversation pieces.

    20/0 treble?

    That's a lot of punch-bait!

20/0 could be classified as a weapon. You may need a permit to carry. Check with the ATF.

It may just be me but I think a lot of those real big hooks are over kill. I've landed 15# C. cats on 2/0 circle hooks with no trouble at all. To answer you on this topic the largest hook I have in my box is 6/0 circle hooks & 6/0 K. hooks. Most of the time I use 4/0 hooks they
seem to fit in the middle and will hook eaters - 25#'s.

The treble I have because it as free. The J hooks I bought to make gaff hooks out of. My choice for r&r fishing depends on where I'm fishing. If it's a pond maybe a 2/0, or if I'm trotlining where I might catch a large flathead I'll use a 6/0. I would like to get some 10/0 king kahles for trotlining with big live bait.
