Large shad

    Most of the shad I can find is usally 3"-4" long. Went to a campground and under a lake oulet dam (small) there were many shad all 9"-12" long. I netted 8 and put them on ice for cut bait for this summer.Why were these so much bigger ? All were trying to get back up stream.-Thanks

    Just like the ones we catch when the run. Anywhere from 8 tp 14 inches long. Those where most likely the adults running upstream to spawn.

    Thanks Keith, I often wondered the same thing myself. I guess it could be due to spawning.
