I am looking for a good landing net to use for bank fishing either from docks or shore. I currently have a cheaper fold up net but I am wanting something bigger and stronger. It just doesn't do well with 10lb plus fish. I may never catch a monster but I would like to be prepared for a bigger fish just in case. Right now money is a factor so the cheaper the better. What are your recommendations?
Frabill is a brand I have had good luck with over the years. They are not inexpensive, but it has been my experience that if taken care of, to include not leaving it exposed to the sun while not fishing it will last for years. I have been using the same landing net for over 20 years. Good Luck.
Good and cheap don't usually go together with most things.
Look for sales and close-outs, you might get lucky. You won't get cheap but you may save compared to full price.
when you get your net and its a nice one like the frabill ; get use to the resistance in the water the longer heaver net gives you. Try dragging it through the water and if you have friends you fish with - have them do some dry runs. Saves you a missed fish.
Ugly Fish Landing Nets are designed for ugly conditions. Rugged non-slip handles give you control in wet and slimy environments, and shafts constructed with the Ugly Stik® rod's Howald process ensure strength and durability when hoisting heavy weights. Fish the way it’s meant to be done. Fish Ugly.
Looks like the ugly stik and the Whisker seeker are about the same price. Don't know if I like the flat bottom on the Ugly.
