    Hey Robb (Sean & others),
This is what I use do with my calms:
    :0a26:
Days before I go on my next outing, I would go by the bait shop & get my Clams, take them home & shell them and put them all in a jar - then I would add "Garlic Salt" to them to give that scent (Cats love it) & it will also make them more tougher. Also at the end of the day, you will not be getting rid of a lot of extra, leftover bait, you could always take that bait home and do it ever time and 1 day (soon) you will be able to go out there without stopping at the bait shop to get some more.

You Guys may want to give that a try the next time out.

What a day that was. Thanks for posting the pic Robb. We sure were racking em up. When we first got there it was cold and windy. The first 45 min were dead.:eek:oooh: We were thinking here we go again, another cold and windy day catchin nothin but a buzz. :sad2: It was hard to tell if you were getting a bite or if it was just the wind. All of a sudden bam, one pole goes off, bam, another one goes off. And it continued through out the whole day until we left, and we only left @ 7:00pm. I think the bite got even stronger towards the evening. We were going to stay the night, but decided to go rather than battle the elements and look for that one big one. People around us weren't catching anything. It feels good when everyone wants to see your stringer. :cool2: I guess it was just "The Day of the Clams". My buddy Rudy got two double hook-ups too(we were fishing with two hooks). Have a couple pics of em, will post when I can. That's a good sign for all who plan on attending the gathering in April.

Oh yeah, had a helluva a time cleaning those suckers. Had one good fish fry last night. :002: Just want to share with you all one way how I make fried cat:

Beat egg with minced garlic(to your liking).

Mix corn meal with salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese.

    Heat deep fryer to 375

Take fillet dip in egg mixture, then roll the fillet in the corn meal mixture.

Cook fillets 8-10min, or to your liking.

(Always good to have lemon, hot sauce, and tartar sauce to go with it)

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.:0a30:

    Tight linez fellaz!

    Sean!

I personally cooked only about 10-15lbs. We gave some away to Rudy's family too. I still had the cats we caught from the day before. Fish fry was ridiculous.

I was using size 4 snelled hooks. They have proved very capable for cats to 10 lbs. Can't comment on anything bigger because we usually only catch channels in the 4-10lb range with the occasional smaller bullheads. You can put 1-2 clams right on the tip of the snelled hook. Works for me.
