    Overall Bite: POOR

Water temps have remained steady around 88-90 degrees on the main lake during the day all week. The South Fork River is at its usual summer highs with temps between 95 and 100 as you approach the hot hole. Heavy rains stained much of the upper river arms this week, but as the weekend approached the waters were beginning to clear.

Reports and trips on the water show that both total numbers and the overall size of the fish are down from previous weeks. Weekend tournaments produced average weights of 4.5 pounds per fish, and the usual winning weights are closer to 6 - 6.5 pounds per fish. Average trips produced 8-12 fish per trip, which is down from previous weeks where 20-24 could be expected. :eek:oooh:

The good news is that the white perch bite is exceptional from daylight until around 9:00am. Catches of 75-100 are attainable in this time frame, especially if you have a friend or some kids along to help man the rods! Remember, there is no limit on white perch in SC or NC, so keep all you can eat or use for bait.

Great report Wyliecat. The time for catching seems to be during the light of day. All the channels you want are available on the drift. They must be filling up during the day and sleeping at night.

Scott, go to the Catfish Publications section, then to Mac Byrum's Catfish University and check out Sabiki Rigs. That thread will inform you of the techniques for catching white perch.
