Lake success here i come.......

    well the boat is ready, the poles are loaded, off to Lake success! I dont think the fishing is that good there now but it is better than not going at all..any advice out there?

    I haven't fished lake Success in near 40 years. It sucked the last time I was there.
    I hope you do good there.

    well things havent changed in 40 yrs it sucked today. water level is so low the lake patrol said the lake is dropping more than 6" a day. I think my next trip will be Lake isabella...but no excuses i just got skunked!

    Hi Jaime, the CA aquaduct runs just west of buttonwillow by a few miles

    Thanks Ray, I once had a tire blow out and bought a tire in Buttonwillow. :roll_eyes:

    I dont know how low the lake is right now but If you can find the old river channel then you've found good fishing. I saw some fellers catching a crap load of 10 pound striper out of it from off the bank. My buddies and I were rigged up for large mouth bass and couldnt do much with them big strippers when hooked up with them. They'd spool you until you got the drag tight enough to stop them and snap. Broke line. I also saw one straighten out my brother in laws fish hook like a straight pin. The fishing there can be great at times. Me and a buddy caught so many large mouth bass on top water plugs one day that we lost count. It was around 30 or more a piece in about 1 1/2 hour.
