Fishing, Launch Ramps, Marina, Fuel. Extends from Detroit north to New Baltimore, Michigan. This large body of water is one of Detroit's popular boating playgrounds. Fishing and general boating is the most popular activity. Lake St. Clair a popular with Freighters and larger craft linking to Lake Erie and Lake Huron. Ontario Canada lies to the East.

ST CLAIR IS A RIOT!!!!

The only place in the world where you can site fish for cats is in the spring from the end of April to the end of May on Anchor Bay.

The mouth of the Detroit River is supposed to be great

The river side of Belle Isle is supposed to be ghreat

Out in front of Gino's Surf avbout 500 yards, anchored off bottom with liver

Out in front of the red run drain 400 yards is a stormwater letoff. many big cats caught there.

Mouth of the Clinton River at 16 mile

Selfrige hotponds

Out by the seawall of the 9 mile USCG jefferson mooring station with cutbait at night works well.

Try them all!!!!!!!

North marina of Metro Beach Hotspot for shore fishing:

Great spot for channels and gills and perch. Southwest-most dock. Go all the way to the end then cast 45 degrees east as far as you can as centermost in the marina as possible. I got a few 15 pound class cats there, and many pike, bass, gills, crappie, and perch. Crawlers, liver, and slim-jims on a hook do well there for cats.

I used to go there after school and do my homework and fish till dark. There may still be an old (60s-70s) black couple that fish there daily. If you catch and release, consider donating a few of your fish a day to this couple. They live on what they catch and they have a wealth of hotspot info.

9 mile pier hotspot:

This requires haggling. You need to bribe a St Clair Shores resident to get access to this and it closes at 8pm, but it is a great spot for channels in early morning and as late as you can fish.

To the north of the pier is the USCG station. Ask them and they may let you fish off the seawall all night. I used to do it as a teen and they were fine with it if I asked first.

My grandpa landed many many channels there and he said a new record channel cat in this state will come from near that pier if anywhere.

More on the Anchor Bay Hotspot:

April 15 to may 15 in 4-9 FOW, you get channels spawning off the lake in broad daylight using a #6 hook, 12 lb test, and sucker or sheepshead drum belly meat.

I have seen days where 40 cats were landed above 5 lbs there in a 6 hour trip. ANYWHERE ON THE BAY IN THAT DEPTH.

Rest of the year it is alright, but usually swamped with jet skiers and speed boaters. Not really quiet at all.
