I'm planning on going Tuesday or Thursday.

Taking dip Bait and liver, I do not like using cut bait(Bluegills, shad etc)

Is it better to fish down the by the bridge that you cross the river or up by the damn?

We did better in the spillway. Either up at the head or 150-200yards downstream from it.

for channels you do best up by the wall. if your looking for flats go fish in the rocks with live bluegill or cut shad. i dont have much luck on liver at shelbyvill. its to early for flatheads on big baits
